The use of GPS and production technology in agriculture.
The growing costs of fertilizers and plant protection products, as well as environmental protection requirements, encourage farmers and owners of larger farms to use more precise machines equipped with electronic control and dosing systems, based on yield maps or information on the occurrence of a disease or pest. For this purpose, the GPS system is used.
GPS (Global Positioning System) is a satellite navigation system developed in the United States for the army. Currently, it is used all over the world, and its accuracy ranges from a few to 20 meters.
Also in agriculture, this system is of great importance today. The introduction of precision farming was possible thanks to the combination of GPS and GIS (Geographical Information Systems). Applications based on these systems are used for crop planning, field mapping, soil sampling, tractor driving and yield mapping. GPS allows you to work in difficult field and weather conditions, such as uneven terrain, poor visibility, fog or working at night.

Through the use of GPS, GIS and remote sensing, the information needed to make better use of land and water can be collected. Thanks to this, additional benefits can be achieved by optimizing the use of fertilizers, determining the economic threshold in pest and weed control and conserving natural resources for subsequent applications.
More and more farmers are using equipment based on GPS technology to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of their operations. The development of technology is constantly expanding the possibilities of GPS navigation, which changes both its appearance and functionality. Just like computers or phones, GPS devices are becoming more compact, more modern and more adapted to the current needs of farmers.
